Grief Support Group

St. John’s is exploring the idea of starting a grief support group. Many have experienced the loss of someone close to them, dealing with the feelings and situation is sometimes very difficult. If you would be interested in joining this group, please contact the church office, Cindy Powlus, or Loreen Comstock. We anticipate that this group will be very informal and a chance for everyone to share.

UPDATE: The grief support group has decided to meet every other month. The decision was made to make this a very informal group to talk about any issues that group members might have. The next meeting will be Wednesday, Dec. 8th at 7:00 p.m. Everyone who has experienced grief at any time, please feel free to attend the meeting.

Service Hour Change and Additional Service

St. John’s church council would like to announce a time change for service, we will continue to meet at 9:00 am.  Church council is asking for your support and prayer as we trial a new start time for service during these months.

There will be no Saturday worship throughout the fall and winter months.

Mid-Week Worship

Council has decided that Thursday, December 9th at 1:30p.m. will be the last mid-week worship service.    Pastor Chad Hebrink will preach and preside.  All are welcome to attend.

In addition to that, it was also decided to end the Saturday evening worship service.  These services no longer attracted a sufficient number of worshippers to ensure their long term success.

Christmas Eve Services

Christmas Eve services will be held December 24, 2021 at 5 pm and 7 pm.  To comply with the pandemic restrictions, we will implement the reserved seating which was planned for last years’ service.  Details will be forthcoming.

Congregational Meeting

Our Annual Congregational Meeting will be Sunday, December 12, 2021, immediately following our regular worship service.

Youth Fellowship Time

We have begun our Youth Fellowship time.  It is so great to see everyone again and share in God’s Word.  The first two weeks have gone will with our new time change and it has been exciting to actually be a part of the church service.  We will continue to use the Lectionary Lessons as our teachings to coincide with the worship time. Thank you for all who have participated and the families for allowing us to spend time with your children.

Reminder:  We meet in the basement at 9:00 am and at this time we are usually finished around 9:45 am and your children can be picked up in the gathering area at the new 5th Street entrance door.

Blood Drive News:

Our congregation is serving the community as the local host for American Red Cross blood drives. The blood drive on November 18th was a success! There were 23 of 30 appointments schedules with 24 donors presenting. The Red Cross was able to collect 26 units against the goal of 18. St. John’s has hosted 5 blood drives allowing the Red Cross to collect 100 blood units.
