Sunday School News

We hope you have had a wonderful summer and a smooth transition back into school.  We are looking forward to starting Sunday School on September 9 at 9:15 am.  This is a great day to begin our new school year as our church is celebrating “God’s work, Our Hand”.  our Sunday School is going to be using this theme throughout the year,  as we use our hands to serve.  We have some fun Activities planned for this year.

 

Christmas Celebration during the Sunday School hour to be held on December 16, 2018

Classes scheduled:

New Adult Sunday School Class:

Our “Adult Sunday School class” begins Sunday, September 16, 9:15 a.m. in the Meeting Room.  September 16-Oct. 7 Pastor Vasey will lead a study on teh Book of James.  Come and lean why Martin Lutehr called this “The Epistle of Staw” (don’t worry he later repented). All are welcome!

First Communion Class:

 First communion class for all children “Pre-Kindergarten”- first Grade will meet October 14-21 with First communion taking place October 28 (Reformation Sunday).  The class will meet during the Sunday School hour (9:15am) in the nursery and Pastor Vasey will be the instructor.  Please note that a least one parent and/or guardian must accompany each child. 

Catechism (Confirmation class):

Orientation for Parents and Students is November 11 following morning worship.  A light lunch for confirmands and parents will be served.  First class begins on November 18 (9:15 am).

God’s Work/ Our Hands Day

St. John’s will celebrate God’s Work/Our Hands day on Sunday,
September 9 from 2-4 pm. by “Cleaning and Sprucing Up” the Mifflinville, Cemetery.  Please help us lend a helping hand to our community and joining us.  We will gather at the cemetery at 2 pm.  Lawn tools (rakes, leaf bags, trowels) are needed and welcome.  A “Leaf Blower” would be much appreciated.  Thank you for making a visible work of good will to our community.
